On Oct. 14: COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen slightly in the last week after plateauing in September. Meanwhile, Gov. Greg Abbott is allowing bars to reopen at 50% capacity this week — as long as their county governments choose to allow it. There were 4,131 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Texas on Oct. 14, compared with 1,578 on May 22, when Abbott originally reopened bars.
