Roy and Nino were fearless. Especially Roy doing what he did which would have been instant death if found out. You gotta give Nino props, he was loyal to his underlings. I think Montiglio is a damn liar and Nino was 100x better to him then what he said in Murder Machine. He just wanted to justify why he betrayed his Uncle
I give them NO props. Roy was a degenerate piece of shit, and IF Nino actually knew about it (IF), then he's a harden also. Roy had to sneak ya, because straight up Joe would have eaten him for breakfast, and he did. Roy get mouthy with Joe and they had an altercation, Joe banged him up.
Joe Bikini was an extremely tough MF'er. And very well respected.
Roy Demeo was a "sneak thief" back-stabbing, serial-killing, "half a Jeffery Dahmer" type depraved individual. To kill the way he did was NOT an enforcer, he was an animal that should have been put down a lot sooner than he was.
And I hold Gaggi and even Castellano responsible for allowing a DG like that in their ranks. There are killers, and THEN there are killers, depraved and mentally unstable "Sick Puppies" who don't belong in "The Life", DeMeo fell in the latter category IMO.
I put him in the same category as a Charlie Carneglia who collected "trinkets" and bobbles or his victims. THAT'S serial killer shit. And a bit too out there for my taste.
The amount of money DeMeo was bringing in was staggering. As for Brocchini punching DeMeo, he was a made guy. If Roy hit him or fought back it would be a death sentence. Roy only had 2 options, let it go or do it on the sneak. I wouldn't praise Brocchini too much. He did deal in the same kind of sick shit porn that Roy did.

When Brocchini got clipped in 75' I don't believe that DeMeo was bringing in the big bucks yet at all. He hadn't become "Demeo" yet with the car thefts, etc. If anything Joe was the star. He was one of the biggest porno guys in New York City. A multimillionaire.
Also, for Joe to hit em must have been because he got nasty and raised his hands. Otherwise Joe knew protocol and wouldn't have raised his hands to a connected guy, even if only an "associate".
So Roy must have been a nasty cocksucker as he was later known for, IMO, and taken liberties that he shouldn't have. So in that case Brocchini was right to bust his hole.
And I can't say for sure (Neither of us were there to see it one way or the other), but Brocchini had taken several pinches for pornography but never one for "child porn" which is an absolutely filthy thing that only true degenerates would traffic in. Even in U.S. Senate hearings on porn Brocchini was NEVER accused of dealing in that shit. Just general pornography. Is it possible? Or course but you gotta be built that way to deal that low. Believe it or not even most wiseguys have a sense of morality, and many won't deal drugs, or handle porno (or more speficially child porn, etc), or prostitution. Many guys consider that stuff immoral, even by street standards. I've known many guys who were repulsed by that stuff.
Even killing was a thing not ALL wiseguys did (contrary to the popular view on made guys).
Remember that back in the day what porn guys commonly dealt in is readily available for you and I to see for free (to a much GREATER extent) than they ever sold under the table or in their book stores. If you see what they actually sold, It's almost benign and comical by todays standards of morality. I know well because I'm old enough to have gone into those stores, and even The Blackjack Bookstore which was Brocchini's so I knew it well. The seedy Times Square area pf the 1960s-1970s was very prevalent at the time I grew up.
