Anti-mafia operation in Castellammare del Golfo (Trapani), police arrested 13 members of the local Cosa Nostra family on charges of mafia-type association, extortions and other crimes; 11 among politicians and public officials, included the mayor Nicola Rizzo, are under investigation for external mafia association. The investigation showed links with the Bonanno crime family of New York. In the latest years several Sicilian mafia members who live in the United States came to Sicily in order to meet the boss Francesco Domingo, arrested in the blitz.
