So I am rewatching The Sopranos, one thing that comes up by some fans is that Tony was very disrespectful of New York and certain things would not happen in real life. In my opinion, I know the ending was completely unrealistic as far as the war but James Gandolfini's potrayal was spot on.

He first treated Carmine Sr. with alot of respect equivalent to dealing with a Tony Ducks. or a Tony Salerno.
He treated Johnny Sack as a personal friend who he learned at the end of the day, it was about his insecurities and money. He treated him like a underboss/Acting Boss but not with the reverence of Carmine Sr. He remained constant with Carmine jr., Rusty Milio, Doc Santoro because they were transitional powers equivalent to Top Capo/Administration. Tony and Phil had several beef in the series it was more personal but he gave Phil almost as much as Johnny Sack

Tony never really gotten out of line until the Coco situation. That was definitely too far and outta line. Other than that He remained cordial and constant in his position in regard to doing business with NY and maintain authority in Jersey.
