Illegal poker tournament stopped in Zaandam, 53 people fined
The Zaanstad police ended an illegal poker tournament in the night from Friday to Saturday. 53 people were present in a commercial building on the Penningweg.
Because of the ban on gathering that is in force because of the corona measures, all those present have been fined. That fine is 395 euros per person.
The police say it is striking that those present came from all over the Netherlands.
"A few managed to escape from the uproar, but the majority of the group was kept in, using appropriate force, after which peace returned."
The Zaan police have been assisted in this incident by colleagues from the Amsterdam police, the National Unit and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.
