i've never heard this at least in italy, maybe somebody in the united states...
Yeah, prostitution doesn't have a high priority, it's a grey zone like the strip joints in the US or red lights districts.
mafia members consider pimps inferior, a pimp can't be a made member in a family because is against the 'rules', they didn't apply the 'rule' for drug trafficking instead... they sure tax pimps if they are active in their zone but they are not directly involved
