The Palermo Prosecutor's Office, recently reopened the case relating to the Mattarella murder. This article suggest the neo-fascist terrorists and possible the rulers in Rome were involved.

Almost forty years have passed since the murder of Piersanti Mattarella (the sad anniversary will fall on January 6), the then Christian Democrat president of the Sicily Region, and there are still dark points that could give new directions to the history of Italy. In fact, the investigation has reopened and according to advances there are also potentially new elements on the weapons that were used. With assumptions that are also found in Giovanni Falcone's minutes, in particular that which examines a possible "black runway".

The Anti-Mafia Commission published the full hearing of the judge who at the time investigated the political attacks committed by Cosa Nostra. In 1988, Giovanni Falcone said: "It is an extremely complex investigation because it is a question of understanding whether, and to what extent, the" black runway "is an alternative to the mafia one, or it interpenetrates with the mafia one". An investigation was underway into the two black terrorists Fioravanti and Cavallini who were suspected of murdering the brother of the current President of the Republic.

Just Falcone argued that that possible convergence of interests between black extremism and Cosa Nostra "could mean other welds, and above all the need to redo the history of certain events in our country, even from very distant times". In the court of assizes Fioravanti and Cavallini were acquitted at the request of the same Prosecutor, because the elements collected were judged insufficient, and the verdicts of not guilty were confirmed up to the Cassation.

Now new possible connections are also emerging. The new appraisals carried out by the Palermo Prosecutor's Office, which reopened the case relating to the Mattarella crime, have in fact established that the weapons that killed the Sicilian politician and the judge Mario Amato are of the same type, Colt Cobra caliber 38 Special. For the murder of Amato in Rome a few months later, Gilberto Cavallini was sentenced as a killer. So that track of exchanges between the mafia and the subversive right is now topical. However, it is specified that there are no technical elements to say that it was precisely the same weapon that killed.
