I never understood why the Eppolito's would think Paul would go along with them taking out Nino and Roy and on top of that, they pick those two up in the car on the way to the bogus "sit down" at the Gemini Lounge no less?
No telling what was in their minds, but they must have figured killing Nino and Roy was their best chance for survival. When they didn't get permission, they probably decided going to a sitdown was their only hope. They would have been better off trying to run away.
