Police arrested a 65-year-old man, Gaetano Giampino, accused of the attempted murder of Salvatore Maranzano, 48, which took place in the Zen district of Palermo.

Giampino would have fired two pistol shots at Maranzano, after the neighbor had insulted his wife. The forty-eight year old was seriously injured in the abdomen and operated on the night. It is life threatening.

Maranzano had insulted the woman who, with her car, parked in front of a supermarket, prevented him from maneuvering. From here - as reconstructed by the flying squad and by the colleagues in the investigative department of the police station of San Lorenzo - the furious reaction of her husband, who challenged a 9-caliber pistol by firing two shots at Maranzano.

Police officers arrived at Villa Sofia last night called by emergency room health workers. The patient had been rescued by friends and relatives and taken to hospital in a car.
