He was run over by a car. And there was nothing for him to do. Marcello Musso, prosecutor of the Milan court, also known for having sentenced Totò Riina to court, died yesterday afternoon in a tragic accident that occurred on the road connecting Agliano and Costigliole d'Asti, in Piedmont. Musso, 67, was riding his bike when - around 4 pm - he was hit right in the middle of a car, a Fiat Stilo whose driver immediately stopped. It seems that the prosecutor turned at an intersection and that the impact occurred at that point, just a stone's throw from the house of the magistrate's mother, who was there on vacation.

To help the 67-year-old a medical team also arrived on board a 118 helicopter, but for the magistrate there was nothing to do. The driver was immediately given the alcohol test, as required by law: according to what was learned from MilanoToday , it turned out to be negative.

Who was Marcello Musso
Originally from Asti and "peasant in the soul", as he himself liked to call himself, Musso had started working in Sicily, fighting the Corleonese: a battle that then continued in the North, in Milan, from where he had managed to convict to the life sentence Totò Riina, the chief of chiefs.

On 15 September 2006, Marcello Musso heard Giovanni Brusca as witness. From there the investigations of the investigators started on a series of mafia murders that took place in Milan between 1987 and 1992. Period in which the leaders of Cosa Nostra decided, according to the investigation, to eliminate some Mafia exponents who were creating "problems" in the Lombard capital. Brusca, reconstructing the facts that led to the murder of Alfio Trovato, killed in May '92 in Via Palmanova (with Riina another affiliate was also accused), he reiterated that the principal was what he himself called the "chief of chiefs" and number one".

Marcello Musso has long questioned the gotha of Cosa Nostra (not only Brusca, also Madonia, Giuffrè) to find evidence for the claims of a repentant from Gela who decided to collaborate. And it is thanks to Musso that he was certified as Milan was a capital of the Sicilian mafia. To the point that Totò Riina boasted about it with his loyalists stating "Milan is in our hands". Thus a patient investigation by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Lombard capital gave the names to principals and executors of a dozen murders that bloodied the city in the 1980s. Faide and settling of accounts for stories of drugs, money, kidnappings that flowed into the enormous power that the Corleonese mafia exercised in the suburbs and in the economic and political heart of the city.
