Gdf seizes 11,000 cannabis plants
Planting from 9 tons of marijuana for a value of 20 mln

(ANSA) - CATANIA, 18 JULY - A plantation of 11 thousand 'skunk' cannabis plants, built on an area of 1,500 square meters, was seized by the Catania finance guard in a vast citrus orchard with 'terraces' of Militello. The operation was completed by soldiers from the Gico operational anti-drug group of the economic and financial police core. The seized marijuana, equal to about 9 tons, submitted to the first qualitative analysis, presents a high content of active principle (Thc), and could yield, in the retail sale, over 20 million euros. The plants, of Dutch origin, were on average 120 centimeters high and were irrigated with a sophisticated water system.
     Also seized a cottage where the drug was dried on an iron fence, two camping tents that were used by the 'farmers', a Ph meter to check the degree of acidity of the water used for irrigation and 25 kg of fertilizer.
