Police Strikes Counterfeit Xanax Production Network Linked to Bikers

An operation to dismantle a synthetic drug network is underway in Laval and Montreal, and in ten municipalities in the North Shore. Investigators in the Antigang section of the Laval Police Service are in charge of the search operations. At least 200,000 synthetic drug tablets, maybe more.

According to Laval police spokeswoman Geneviève Major, the police are dismantling Xanax's biker production, distribution and export network. The product was exported to the United States, Europe and Australia, but was also distributed locally in Quebec.

The investigation, entitled Franking, began in February 2018, after the Canada Border Services Agency asked police to intercept 200 packages of counterfeit Xanax tablets at Laval postal outlets. Xanax (alprazolam) is a powerful medicine to relieve excessive anxiety, panic disorders.

At this time, approximately 235 police officers accompanied by dog ​​handlers and detection instruments are conducting searches in at least 13 locations, including Laval, Montreal, Terrebonne, Saint-Lin, Sainte-Thérèse, Saint-Eustache, and Gatineau. and the surroundings. At least one clandestine synthetic drug production laboratory was raided by the police.

Fourteen individuals are included in the survey. Some were arrested. Charges will be laid during the day.

To carry out the dismantling of the network, the Laval investigators obtained reinforcements from the Sûreté du Québec and the police officers from the municipalities where the searches are taking place. The Laval police must produce a preliminary report of the strike at the end of the day.
