Vito Roberto Palazzolo, considered one of the biggest launderers of dirty money on behalf of Cosa Nostra, who remained a fugitive for years in South Africa where he accumulated a billion-dollar fortune, has returned free after having obtained the probationary award from the social services.
Palazzolo, born in Terrasini, in the province of Palermo and sentenced to 9 years for mafia association, served six years in prison.
