I remember the first All Star Weekend I watched, 1988. Cable had just become available in our area (unlike you east coasters who've had cable since the 70s). Larry Bird won the 3 point contest. Guys like Craig Hodges, Danny Ainge, and Byron Scott were in it. These guys never missed. The dunk contest came down to Dominique vs. MJ. It was in Chicago and the hometown judges gave it to Michael for doing his usual tomahawk dunk from the free throw line, robbing Dominique who did a two handed windmill, which at that time nobody had ever seen anyone do before. Might have been done on the street but never seen on television. What a show.
