I finally got around to watching Gotti and it is not the greatest but had some redeeming qualities.

I understand that if a viewer is unfamiliar with the story of John Gotti it would be very difficult to follow since the film jumped from time period to time period with out much connection between scenes.

It is obviously told from the perspective of Junior Gotti - based in part on his book. In a way it successfully tells the story as a loving tribute from son to father. Unfortunately that father is John Gotti which means most of the interesting parts and any new information doesn't make it on screen.

The cast is all over the place too. Some like Travolta wear makeup to resemble their real life counterparts and others are not even close. Junior must have had a hand in casting the actor who played him.

Overall it contains some good scenes but these are so poorly presented that it makes the movie difficult to watch and understand. Is it the worst movie ever? Far from it. Could it have been better? Yes and maybe someday someone will make a definitive version of the story.
