Ziani was just on bail a few weeks after he was arrested in an investigation into the makeshift bomb found in Marbella. The girl who accompanied him on Saturday night told the police that Ziani seemed nervous and went outside a few times to smoke. They had dinner in restaurant Tiki on the boulevard in Playamar, Bajondillo. "Here you eat the best sushi from Málaga," the waitress heard Ziani say. Restaurant Tiki is currently very popular on the Costa del Sol and there is a waiting list of weeks for those who want to dine late on Saturday night.
The first reservations were before 21.30. The restaurant was almost empty when the shooter came in just before the waitress wanted to serve the order. It was a few minutes past nine. Ziani had ordered a beer, his girlfriend a bottle of water.
According to witnesses, the shooter was fat and also wore face-covering and a sweat band around his head in addition to the hood. He shot at first twice, the girl fell sideways on her shoulder away from the table. Ziani tried to run out injured, but a few meters before the door he collapsed. There the killer fired another seven times.
