Ron de J., aka Rooie Ron, was acquitted on appeal from the money laundering he had earned during the IRT affair. He can also get his confiscated villa back in Vinkeveen. The court sentenced him to 9 months in jail last June.
'Rooie Ron' bought in 1995 from the proceeds from large-scale trade in soft drugs a capital villa on the Vinkeveense Plassen. He bought the property with bearer shares from a Swiss company.
The IRT affair was a huge police corruption scandal. De Jong, like Mink Kok and Stanley Hillis, made millions in the early nineties to import soft drugs together with the informant Kris J. of the then IRT.
Only years after the end of the IRT affair, in which two ministers had to leave the field because they were unable to provide clarity about the activities of the police and the judiciary, the Public Prosecutor brought the case up again.
