The suspicious man, who was shot down by a motor police officer this morning in the Amsterdam Staatslieden district, appears to be Heineken kidnapper Frans Meijer (66).
One of the best-known underworld figures. Meijer is hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds in a hospital where he is guarded by the police. He was cared for by a trauma team after being shot in the Van Limburg Stirumstraat. The weapon that Meijer carried with him was recovered and confiscated.
