14 years is insane and a crazy amount of forfeiture. Was he offered a plea here at all before it went to jury?
He did plea. He didn't go to trial.
The worst I’ve see was the Colombo guy who beat the murder rap but the judge thought he done it and gave him 50 years! It didn’t help that he said he would do 20 years standing on his head. There should be limits as that’s a joke. If the government can’t prove a case beyond reasonable doubt it’s wrong that the judge can just give any sentence they feel to. That’s not democratic justice.
