During a shooting at Koffiehuis Het Kalf in the Kalversbos in Delft a man was shot dead Tuesday morning. It is the notorious Delft criminal Karel Pronk.
The shooting incident took place around 11.40 and according to witnesses three or five times would have been shot. According to emergency district 8, the victim was still resuscitated by ambulance personnel on the pavement next to the coffee shop, but the man died from his injuries. The victim would have arrived with his motorcycle at the coffee shop, after which he was attacked.
Karel Pronk was also called the 'The Hague Holleeder'. He was involved in prison escapes in the past and was convicted of murder, robbery and drug trafficking. For example, in the early 90s he was sentenced to 20 years in prison because of the murder of an orchid grower from Rijswijk. After his release in 2007 he moved to Spain, but he was still active as an entrepreneur in Delft. Then he was convicted several times for drug and violent crimes.
The shooter is still fugitive. There is still nothing clear about the cause of the shooting. The police have removed the crime scene and are looking for witnesses.
