Hannity is so transparent. He cherry picks a few sentences from the WSJ piece knowing most of his viewers won't read it in it's entirety. No actual tariffs were lowered today, Juncker doesn't even have the authority to do so.



Anyway...

Agreeing with Europe to conduct further talks about improving trade relations, possibly lowering tarriffs, while suspending additional new tariffs and not jacking up current tariffs while these talks are conducted ...brings trade policy precisely back to where it was pre-Trump's trade war bluster. (Which is a positive thing, so at least that came out of this.)


Juncker was mainly concerned with the 25% tariffs on autos, Trump agreed not to impose them while negotiations are ongoing.... they will be ongoing for a long time. That's a big plus for European car makers and American purchasers.


The EU countries also buy their own energy independently, not as a single entity. The LNG thing is interesting. Currently it's much cheaper for them to buy it via pipeline from Russia, which is why they do so. The US suppliers would have to significantly drop the price to make it even remotely competitive, and we have one port set up to export it (in Louisiana) as of now, so they'd have to wait a long time for us to set up the capacity to export the amount they would need.
