I don't care what Time magazine says. In Shaver's situation the police were responding to reports of a man pointing a rifle out of a window. In the age of mass shootings, you know that kind of call is going to get an aggressive, militarized response. It's ridiculous to compare this situation to someone like Philando Castille, who was pulled over for some petty reason then shot for no reason at all. In Sacramento they hunted down Stephon Clark for looking into car windows. Just looking. Didn't even try to break into a car. Had choppers on him and everything. They shot him several times for making a quick move. Hard to feel sorry for an idiot like Shaver who points a rifle barrel out of a window and practically begs the police to respond aggressively, until they do and he realizes he might have made a fatal mistake. Daniel Shaver was shot for being a drunk idiot. The end.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea
