The 37-year-old Ricky A. from The Hague is suspected to have ties with a Colombian drug cartel. The man came on the radar after an undercover agent working on another operation came into contact with A. by accident. Ricky A. was arrested last year with his girlfriend.
According to the Public Prosecutor, Ricky A. in the Netherlands arranged for shipments of cocaine to be removed from containers. Although there were some tips that A. led a very luxurious life, without having a regular source of income, he only came on the radar of the police in December 2016. A., who thought he was dealing with a drug dealer, told us that he could arrange so-called "rescue teams", who could take out cocaine in the port of Rotterdam and at Schiphol.
The police found out that he also made trips to, for example, Madrid and Colombia. All in the service of cocoa trade, according to the Public Prosecution Service that suspects that A. had contacts with the Los Urabeños cartel in South America.
The girlfriend of A. was aware of everything, according to the prosecutor. Among other things, she had contact with a number of co-suspects. And when the police invaded the couple's home, the machine for packing drugs simply stood on the counter. According to the AD, the woman worked with the Bar Association. She has now been fired there.
