I wish that Obama were an elite. He would have been a much better president if he governed with a sense of authority and purpose of someone who was meant for the job, which he was, even thought he was too humbled to embrace it. I don't believe our country has progressed to a point to where a non-white (or non-male) president would govern with a mandated sense of authority. The right threatened civil war over a black president who was about as docile and cooperative as any president in history.
