On Wednesday morning, Emiele Z. (1969) was in court in The Hague for the first time. He is suspected of involvement in the death of heroin trafficker Mustafa Ates. Z. would have strangled Moes Beton, the nickname of Ates.
The suspect has also been tapped extensively. For example, telephone conversations were carried out that Z. conducted with his Bulgarian ex-girlfriend, after she had visited the police. In it, the suspect would have said among other things: "I kill many people." OVC conversations have also been included. In one of them, recorded shortly after a broadcast of the television program Opsporing Verzocht, Z. "I have done all the dirty work. I dressed him. I've done most of the work. " In another OVC conversation that took place after many people received a text message from the police, including the suspect, the police hear that Emiele Z. is whispering to a friend about a neck clip. According to the officer, that would fit very well with the scenario that Ates is strangled.
