The Court of Cassation has confirmed the convictions of over 200 years in prison on appeal to bosses and followers of the province of Palermo.
The Roman judges reiterated the leading role of Antonino Sciortino who, at first instance, was acquitted and on appeal sentenced to 18 years. The trial stems from the New Mandamento investigation, so called for the project of the clan to constitute a superclan that would have unite the families of Camporeale, Monreale, Partinico, San Giuseppe Jato, Camporeale, Altofonte, Borgetto, Montelepre and Giardinello.
The defendants responded in various ways to mafia, extortion, possession of arms and drugs, theft of livestock and the murder of Giuseppe Billitteri , eliminated with the method of the lupara bianca March 22, 2012.
