Auto tariffs. Possibly. Which China had promised to lower back in November, they have been dropping them steadily over the past few years. So maybe they'll go a little lower. The Chinese play the long game, but no one expects China to cave. They'll just lighten some discriminatory practices. The Chinese approach to business is very different than the American approach, as is the Sino economic system


If they do, it's good news for a company like Tesla, that has no factories in China. For companies like GM, Ford, Chrysler, that already have Chinese factories that produce cars for the Chinese market it means nothing. They don't pay tariff on those cars.



Beijing filed a complaint with the WTO on the steel and aluminum tariffs.

The US would have a stronger hand vis-a-vis China if it had joined TPP and was confronting China not unilaterally but in concert with Japan and the 10 other nations who along with US constitute 40% of global economy.
