After the liquidation of Reduan B., the brother of key witness Nabil B., the Public Prosecution Service asked Italian experts for advice. This has been confirmed by the national prosecutor's office after reports from VPRO's Bureau Buitenland and the NOS .

The Public Prosecutor spoke with, among others, the Italian investigating judge Nicola Gratteri. That is one of the magistrates who only do the most daring Mafia investigations. Discussions were also held with other Mafia experts. According to Gratteri, the Netherlands should quickly introduce a special anti-Mafia legislation.

This gives the police and the judiciary more opportunities to use witnesses to isolate individuals and companies that have been convicted of mafia practices. It is punishable to do business with or to work together, even for people who do not do anything criminal.
