A 1972 report by the Montreal Crime Commission names one Willie Obront as the head of the syndicate in the area and
describes the relationship between Obront and Mitchell BronfÂman as "almost a brotherly relationship." (25) \This relationship extends into illegal activities in which they have mutually or jointly indulged ...the special kinds of favors they did for each other and the resulting advantages of each in the fields of loan sharking, gambling, illegal betting, securities, tax evasion and corÂruption. (26)
