The attorney general of the Court of Appeal of Palermo has requested confirmation of the convictions (in all, 80 years in prison) inflicted on six alleged exponents or supporters of the mafia clan headed by Matteo Messina Denaro, involved in the "Ermes" operation in August 2015.

The investigation allowed to shed light on the last network of "postmen" at the service of the fugitive boss Castelvetranese.

Among them, the entrepreneur Giovanni Domenico Scimonelli, alleged boss of Partanna, has been sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment, a "white collar" considered to be among the closest men to Messina Denaro (he would also reinvest the money of the boss in Switzerland ).

Last January 17, Scimonelli, owner of a supermarket in Partanna, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Assizes of Trapani as considered the instigator of the murder of Salvatore Lombardo, killed with two gunshots, in Partanna, in front of the "Smart Cafe" bar, 21 May 2009.
