Go backwards. There are thousands of great classic movies to enjoy. Made in the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s. And many, many great stars to watch. Names like Gable, Grant, Cooper, Cagney and Bogart. Hepburn (both Katherine and Audrey), Bette Davis and Barbara Stanwyck. All BIG stars. But these were also the years of truly great character actors whose names may not have been as well-known but they were masters of their craft and you'd probably recognize them all as soon as you saw them. People like Thomas Mitchell, Charles Coburn, Walter Brennan and Barry Fitzgerald.


Excellent post. There are so many B actors that did an excellent job. I especially remember Barry Fitzgerald. It seems he almost always played a priest. He was in Going My Way among others wasn't he?
