I've heard Johnny Roast Beef had some "friends". And, yep, DeNiro the gangster is all acting. Have to admit he was convincing in that scene, though. I think DeNiro's best role was Casino, because it's probably more true to who he is. The scene where Pesci is yelling at him in the desert and he's looking away calls back to Johnny Roast Beef's face when Jimmy Conway is yelling at him.
