Frank “The Prime Minister” Costello: Also known as the “Chairman of the Board.” He was such a powerful mob boss that when he testified in front of the televised Kefauver Hearings looking into organized crime in 1951, he refused to let the cameras show his face. They showed only his hands and viewers heard only his voice. Marlon Brando studied those hand gestures and mastered that voice for his role as Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather.
