Three times in the last five days, I've been driving along and have had to stop because the lane was blocked (no problem, twice was delivery guys and once a guy trimming his overhanging hedges). In each instance, a person in the oncoming lane also stopped, although their lane was in no way obstructed. Instead of simply proceeding, and leaving me to loop around the obstruction after they passed (no other cars were in sight either way), they initiated a game of chicken, where I'm supposed to loop out in front of them, then cut back into my lane so they can proceed. I'm supposed to know intuitively that someone as kind as them won't suddenly decide that I must be waiting for them to clear, and then proceed into precisely the spot they wanted me to enter a few seconds before. I know they're just trying to be nice, but sensible people don't unnecessarily court situations where cars are moving toward each other in the same lane.

Venting completed.
