My dad was similar. He was born and raised in Brooklyn but when he spoke of my mother's family (she was born in Kingston, NY - upstate - but moved to Brooklyn when she was about seven years old) he used to say that her family was chased down the Hudson River by Indians when it froze over.

lol The stuff they come up with is so silly. Dad had stories lined up to tell us. But my Grandpa never told stories. The one and only comment he would always make was, You can't win with the women around. And you know what? That I could believe grin
