Dion DiMucci probably was the best white lead singer of the Doo Wop era. I saw him with and without the Belmonts at the Freed shows. Lou Reed worshiped Dion--he inducted Dion into the R&R Hall of Fame. You can hear Dion wailing away at the end of Reed's "Dirty Boulevard":

(Dion is singing on the vinyl version, not the black man shown in the video.)

The Channels, one of the top NY Doo Wop groups, did their own version of Frankie Laine's classic "That's My Desire":

Dion and the Belmonts copied the Channels' version literally note for note:

Dion and Johnny Maestro are my faves. Yes, I can hear Dion at the end. Wow! I never would have guessed that was him in a million years. Great stuff, TB.

I need to put up the song That's My Desire. There are a few live versions up on YouTube that are magnificent. Great band, great song.

I don't know about you but listening to doo wop puts me in a great mood. So, I listen to it every single day. smile

I'll have more questions for you when I get back. Gotta run. Beauty parlor day for me grin
Have a wonderful day!! smile
