Rachid is the brother of Mohamed Benbouker, whose body was found in December 2011 in the North Holland Canal. He was killed with two other drug offenders, Arjan Kools and Maurice Bouhuijs. During the trial it emerged that Benbouker had extorted and threatened two of the perpetrators.
