Trump had bipartisan support for firing Comey, who had been playing God for far too long and deserved to be canned. But, there's no way Trump can avoid the appearance that he dumped Comey to quash the FBI investigation about Russian influence in the election. There's going to be a lot of pressure in Congress for an independent investigation. FBI is going to take a big hit.
