Caldwell has also been indicted by a federal grand jury for the attempted murder of Bonanno crime family soldier Enzo “The Baker” Stagno in 2013. Stagno was shot in the chest while he was in his SUV near his home making a phone call according to authorities. This is the first time anyone has been charged in the shooting of Stagno. It was unclear as to the motive behind the attempted mob hit on Stagno but authorities believed the hit was sanctioned by leaders of the Lucchese family.
Sources at that time claimed the hit on the mobster may have been part of a feud between the Bonanno and Lucchese families. Both Caldwell and Londonio are already behind bars on Bronx state charges linked to the murder of Meldish.
