George Anastasia said something very interesting in a recent interview regarding John Alite. He said every country in Italy has its own subculture, its own "ways" and tht includes the criminal lifestyle. I forgot the saying in Italian but its translation was something like, "look good while doing it", and thats the Neopolitan way. Whereas the Sicilian way is to "be in the shadows and to not let on to what you really are and your true intentions, keep things between us". And you can see that with Gotti, whom was a Neopolitan and was flashy even when it came to criminal activity. Another Neopolitan boss was the same way, Al Capone. Of course there alwats exceptions, but my point is , Gotti was smart, he wasnt as dumb as guys like Joe Coffey wanted to paint him out to be. His flashiness and brash ways were more attributed to that simply being his way of life, and not his intelligence or mental capacity. Credits to CC for pointing this out for me.
