I agree that term was heartless, but I don't think he meant it literally if that makes sense. Like he said above he said he would help them regardless.

While I can agree some got hooked due to ignorance (like a doctor writing pain scripts) or something of the like, I'd say 8 out of 10 get hooked on heavy drugs because they wanted to get a better high and got hooked on that nasty shit. You got to know better, especially those of us that grew up around that shit and seen what others went through. I just refused to "want to get that high" to try anything worse than a pain pill, xanax or grass growing up. I had buddies that snorted and offered me many times, and I simply said no and took their ribbing because I knew I would be better off without it.
