A 20 year old gang member was shot Friday by an unknown man. Jamal Jones was hanging out in front of a bodega at 2:00 in the afternoon Friday when a man wearing a hoodie unloaded at least 5 gun shots into Jamal's skull. Jamal Jones died at the scene while the gunman fled.
Friends and family are very upset saying although Jamal had some trouble with the law, he seemed to be trying to get his life on a new path. He as at least 2 or 3 children and intended to start spending time with them. He also mentioned aspirations of becoming a rapper and even wrote a few songs. Although he was unemployed, he recently started talking about filling out a few job applications.
Friends and family say its a tragic loss and will always remember Jamal as a guy who was a fixture in front of the bodega always wearing his blue bandana.
Jamal is survived by a brother, 3 half brothers, and at least 5 half sisters. His mother is currently incarcerated but prison officials claim she was very upset when she learned of her sons murder. Although Shanikka Smith has'nt seen her son for at least 4 years, she said he seemed like a good boy who may become very successful.
Services will be at the bodega will Jamal was gunned down where his bloody bandana will be hung up on a telephone pole memorializing his untimely death.
