from what i have read the reason turchi got taken down was because his son was getting into massive gambling debts with other mobsters. Back in 1995 he alledgly planned to kill ralph natale and joey merlino by paying thousands to gambino members but ralph said he found out about the plot the story goes that ralph sent steve mazzone to see him who told him if tries to take over they will kill him

Then after this weridly ralph chose turchi as his number in the 3 mob apparently guys on the streets were baffled by his choice he was a butcher for trade and previte described as a guy who could not earn. After ralph flipped he was living on borrowed time turchi was in prison when ralph flipped the merlino mob lured him in a merlino mobster gave him a rolex and told him it was all ok he could come back to the streets roger vella who was in the same prison was telling him it was fine for him to come back. He believed them and he got whacked
