Mr. Blonde, tried on two seperate occassions to get into Mad Max but couldn't. And, I love all the Mel Gibson ones.
It's not for everyone, and I wouldn't award it best picture. But it was incredibly stylish and told its story through pure action, which is a novel concept. I think the Best Director award should go to the director who takes the most chances in presenting the movie and succeeds with those chances. Too often, it merely goes to the director of the Best Picture.
ETA - It is now on regular rotation on HBO.
