In Russia and Italy it's no better in terms of making sense logically:

For example, a mayor of a Russian city got 9 years for ordering a hit (successfuly carried out) on a businessman, while a thief-in-law who kidnapped a gang rival without killing him got 25 years.

In Italy, the mafia hitman Vincenzo Chiodo who killed the boy Giuseppe Di Matteo (son of an informant) got 18 years of which he has to serve only 4,5 years in prison, while the rest he can spend in house arrest, and "house arrest" in Italy means you can even leave home during certain hours. Remember, we are talking about an individual who personally garrotted a child while the other 2 goons held the boy to prevent him from moving. Sick bastard, that one.

Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:

1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."

2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."
