I believe Macaluso was Tommy Lucchese's Consigliere in the 60's, and then by the 80's an underboss-in name only. I don't think he actually had alot of power. I don't think he was even considered a successor to Tony Ducks. He was old by then... He was then forced into retirement by Amuso.

Pretty much. Macaluso was an old man by the time Ducks went away. I think it was more of an honorary title than anything else. He died not too long after they put him out to pasture.
