Well for one, that user is a female. And two, believe it or not, way back in the 20's & 30's for at least some part, thats what it was about. Especially in Sicily. Guys still double crossed each other, but it was usually after one guy attempted a power play of some sort, and ended up on the losing side. You still had those who were essentially out for self and not "the family" though.
