Actually most white people of the era did not own slaves. Actually there was a massive abolitionist movement extant at that time. Actually, soldiers don't get to decide what they fight for, they are simply conscripted into war and must carry out their function. Actually the first person to lose their cool in a debate usually ran out of logic and facts to counter attack the arguments of the other debater.
