What were the sentences back then for dealing drugs? And how did they compare to average sentences for other crimes that mobsters were involved in?
I don't know what the penalties were for dealing drugs back in the 30's, 40's 50's, etc. I imagine they were quite severe, especially if federal law was applied. The fear was that the penalties would be so great that there might be a tendency to "flip" or become an informer.
