I don't think so. Ralph was an emotional trainwreck -- offering to marry Rosalie, setting up a fund in Jackie Jr.'s memory, etc.

Ralph's killing was more Tony's sociopathy (the love of animals over human life) and his overreaction.

Not to hijack a thread, but something to think about. A friend of mine and I had discussed this episode awhile back -- in a way, the episode was a metaphor for the looming Iraq War (this aired in late 2002 when there was sabre-rattling from the Bush administration against Iraq).

- The episode title was a question immediately after 9/11 - whoever did this
- Tony had a long simmering hatred for Ralph and this was a handy excuse to whack him, evidence or not (and there wasn't)
- The rest of the Soprano family was cowed into compliance...nobody dared to speak out about what happened
